christ666's Diaryland Diary

Starla and I are slowly getting things packed for the move, but we've started to become wary about the home we're moving to. The house isn't by any means unliveable, and the place still surpasses many others, but apparently there was some false advertising on the realtor's end and we've ended up with a furnace and air conditioning unit that's over fifteen years old. One of the reasons we offered as high as we did was because we were told of a newly replaced A/C unit and updated furnace. We're gonna try and negotiate them fixing some of the repairs as needed to compensate for this deception, but who knows what they'll agree to. I don't want to have to start looking for new homes again, but we just might have to.

The rest of the week was pretty uneventful up until Kort's birthday party Friday night. It wasn't full of people I didn't know, so that made the night a lot easier. Mostly time was spent drinking with the band and enjoying each other's humor.

The next day was showtime so I loaded up all I could into my car and set out to Brandon's. We ran through the set a couple times and played are new one through to get it down perfectly. After that, we headed to the Venue where the other bands were already present for load in. After hauling in our gear, we spent much of the time chilling in lawn chairs in the parking lot, drinking PBR.

Found out we played second, so we backlined for the show and waited till our set. Turnout was pretty decent, with a crowd of maybe 50 or so. Star showed up with my sister and by about 8, we were on stage. Found out that our intros were no good since the sound guy didn't have a workable output to use, so we just played our set clean. Worked just as well, we were able to play plenty of songs, but by Blasphemous, our second to last, I was starting really lose it. Sweating and sore, I had lost a lot of motivation to play correctly. It was all I could do to make it through to the end.

We made second place which means we won a bit of studio time as well as qualify for the next round to get on Harvest Fest. Right now I'm working on getting a few bands together to put on a good bar show that'll be unrestricted to the typical bullshit we've been going through.

My grandfather isn't doing well and could be on his way out. I'm trying to keep my mom upbeat and positive, but it's kinda hard to do, especially when you're wary of her emotional response. When her mom died, my grandma, it proved really devastating, so if the last of her parents goes...

No new podcast this week, had a busy weekend to get through, but hopefully by this Friday we'll have a new episode recorded.
